Desert Golf Season Underway

The Fall Season ’09 – ’10

21115312.thbNovember can mean a lot of things, but to many golfers in the Coachella Valley it is the beginning of the 09-10 golf season.  The “Season” as we call it, usually runs from the 1st of November until the 31st of May.  The desert goes from having just a handful of courses open in October,  due to grass overseeding,  to over 130 open for play in November.  Rates vary in November and December from $30 twilight rates to $169 prime-time rates.

DesertCADDIE has put together a list of the Fall Golf Rates for the public courses.  It is a cheat sheet to save you from calling all the courses or from searching for rates in magazines or online.  Some courses offer lower rates after the busy morning hours.  Most have lower rates Monday – Thursday and then they will raise the rate for Friday – Sunday play.

Best Value

There are a few “value” deals that we wanted to point out.  Indian Palms Country Club offers golf for a $69 per round with either a sleeve of balls or lunch.  Tahquitz Creek is offering golfers breakfast and lunch as part of their $89 fee.  Cathedral Canyon is offering DesertCADDIE readers an exclusive $10 discount per round (click here for coupon). Oasis has one of the least expensive golf rates priced at $39 per round after 11 am.

As the season progresses we will feature other offers and “value” deals. So check back often for our DesertCADDIE exclusive offers and featured “value” golf.

What’s New This Season?

There is a new restaurant at Indian Springs called Turbos Tavern and Grille.  We haven’t checked it out yet, but please let us know if you’ve dined there and how you like the food and the ambiance.  Trilogy has had some management changes and they also changed their name.  Trilogy is now called “The Golf Club at La Quinta.”  The Mountain Course at Desert Willow has new greens.  Desert Springs has re-sodded their greens.

Club Updates

Many of you may have already heard that Palm Desert Country Club has filed bankruptcy and is currently closed.  Desert Dunes is going through an ownership change.  They have redesigned their greens, but we have not been given a date yet for when they plan to reopen. Stone Eagle is in foreclosure, but they are still open for play.  Escena has plans to reopen this season, but we are waiting to hear back on their open date, so give them a call if you want to play there.
